Data Logging Meter/Device Choices
« on: April 17, 2016, 06:30:50 PM »
I was looking at the Artisan compatibility choices/prices today and though a good topic for discussion would be "what are you using, likes, dislikes, pricing"

http://artisan-roasterscope.blogspot.de/2013/06/device-selection.html

I've got an Amprobe TMD-56 and a Phidget 1048. I like having the temperature read out on the Amprobe, dislike the ocassionally spikes and weird behavior. Phidget 1048 is really solid without hardly any issues.

How does the RS-232 interface meter compare to the USB to serial converter meter?

Had a pair of amprobes. They were unreliable. Phidgets are great. If they had a digital readout that would be awesome.

I have an Omega HH506RA leftover from my Hottop days- luckily it was plug and play with the Huky's K-type thermocouples. No problems with it- been solid for years with one minor exception- when I got Windows 10 laptop I had to find a new driver for that RS-232 cable. If I hadn't already spent the money for the Omega it'd be Phidget but I would miss that temp readout a lot.
