Slack Tube?

Anybody tried using a slack tube? I am thinking about tubing in a slack tube and running a webcam to it and just snapping pictures of the setting each time I change it, and then recording after the roast. Not sure how it will work in practice, but a slack tube seems like the best way to have proper accuracy and consistency when roasting doesn't it? Especially with NG at 7"WC, but even for propane it seems far superior to a gauge.
