Gas needle valve stuck
« on: September 21, 2016, 06:40:13 PM »
Hi.

Im re-installing my huky in a new place and while checking the needle valve is completly stuck. The stove is not connected to the propane line yet. Im not sure if the valve is suppose to behave in this way or I need to try with the propane line first?.

Rgds.

Is it stuck open or closed?

It was stuck open.

I manage to solve the problem by dismounting the valve from the stove and turning it several times in both directions. I also put the valve in hot water and also applied lubricant.

Mr Li sent me the attached picture. I discover that the knob transmit torque to the shaft with an small screw. The screw is suppose to be located near the knob. That was not my case.

Im attaching the picture for future references.

That lock ring baffled me as well in the beginning; trying to figure out its purpose. I can see where someone would think it's part of the operation and lock up the assembly. Good you got it solved!

I'm curious to know what you used for lubricant. Was it difficult to remove the needle valve assembly from the stove? It looks like you have to remove at least two brass flare fittings.

I used mineral oil. Try not to remove the valve from the stove just the fittings. I removed the valve and it was problematic to put it back in the proper position.
