I have a few questions
« on: December 28, 2016, 10:21:06 AM »
I have been roasting in a skillet for over a year now . I have decided to buy a roaster I was going to bite the bullet and get the 066 or the bc 300 both costs around $3000. I would like to sale coffee if I can but I live on a farm with not a lot of people around so 3000 is a lot for a long shot . I talked to Steave at Mill roasters (super nice guy) he said a Huky might be my best bet. How much is a Huky ?do they have a warranty? Can you roast back to back with out breaking the Roaster? I have seen a roaster on eBay that is a lot like a Huky I think it's called Kalid from South Korea they are only $ 500 dose anyone know about them? Thanks for the help Brian

Check the Before You Buy page in the Resources section.

That will answer your question about cost.

You can roast back to back with the huky (if i understand what you mind) without breaking it, but still it's a very small roaster : after roasting like 100 kilos of coffee I feel that it's time to upgrade to something bigger ! But you probably can start with the Huky and if needed, sell it and buy a bigger roaster.

The Kaldi is not quite than the Huky. It's smallest, and do not have any air flow, neither cooling tray. Some models have a motor, some don't. The Kaldi may be a good cheap start for homeroasting, but definitly not for sales !!!

The Huky ought to work just fine; just don't go overboard with options. Many people start with one and move up when a larger machine makes sense.
