Your Best Roast
« on: January 19, 2017, 02:30:32 PM »
Thought it could be interesting for each of us to post a profile and cupping/tasting notes for the best roast you've ever done (along with all the requisite deets: origin, charge size, and the like).

Feel free to have a little brag and we can all learn something, especially novices like myself.

This is a really interesting concept of a thread.  I think there is ALOT to be learned about huky dynamics if we see profiles that produced "great" cups.  I'll try to dig through my artisan profiles and see if I can pinpoint the good ones.

Perforated drum
400 grams Yirgacheffe
Drop temp 150 Celcius (300 F)
TP 65 Celcius (140 F) abt 1'30"
FC 11 minutes
Drop ard. 12 minutes
Result:  fantastic espresso, after 7 days wait.  Foamy, rich, full, moderately earthy with some tannin, mellow and creamy finish.
Personal thanks to:  edtbjon (Björn).  His insisting on dropping beans at 150 C has worked for me.
And Huky is a fantastic little machine.

Can you upload the .png file so we can see the profile without having to download the .alog file?

And, do you mean you charged at 150C or you dropped the roast at 150C?  (Actually if you upload the .png file I'll be able to see that myself).

Ethiopia Ennaria Limu

Charge at 455F

Very aromatic, getting notes of peach, mango, and brown sugar using a V60 pour over.
