New to roasting/Huky checklist
« on: March 04, 2017, 06:14:26 PM »
How does this thing look, being a complete newbie to all things roasting (popcorn popper for about a month).

I would like to place my order for the Huky 500T, with the 72 RPM motor w/ solid drum. All digital probes.

I would like to add:
•IR propane stove
•Exhaust hood
•MET probe
•Extra tray
•Extra fan
•Extra funnel
•Extra motor (72 RPM)

I will be ordering a variac and phidget 1048 w/ housing from other sources.

This should cover everything needed correct? Am I good with probes? Good with just the phidget and a laptop? Or anything else I should order/other recommendations?

Sorry for the ton of questions but I'm new to all this and want to make sure I get it right. Thanks for the help!

Looks good!

Be sure your getting the digital ET probe instead of the dial thermometer ET. You can only have both if one of the two is purchased optionally.

What I'm saying is if you want to try using the dial thermometer, get the digital as an option. Or skip the dial unit and connect all three to the phidget.

The dial thermometer would suit a user getting a very bare bones package and connecting the BT to an inexpensive digital meter (no datalogging).

The digital ET connected to Artisan Roaster Scope is one of the best instructional graphical representations of the interaction between roast drum/beans.

I will be ordering a variac ... from other sources.

After 2+ years of using a variac, I am now convinced that it is overkill.
This costs a lot less and does everything you need it to do.
