Hello everybody!
« on: March 08, 2017, 07:59:48 AM »
First of all, this forum is a fantastic wealth of knowledge!

My name's Andrew, I'm a software engineer in Ohio (United States). I've been roasting on a Behmor 1600+ for a while now, and I'm gearing up to order a Huky 500T in the next couple of weeks.

Looking forward to all the delicious coffee you guys can help me to roast.

Hello to a fellow SE.

My first roast I burnt to a crisp.  I keep it in a jar as a fun reminder.  Every other roast has been enjoyable, but still a work in progress to be better than good.  I look forward to hearing your additions to the "weath of knowledge".

Welcome to the rabbit hole!

This should be your last home roaster; unless you go commercial. And that's a much bigger rabbit hole. LOL

Haha yeah I think this will do me just fine for a while. I think like a lot of others here I have dreams of going commercial some day, this is a pretty low-risk start!

I've been roasting on a Behmor 1600

I think that is a common step to the Huky with a lot of folks here!  Good luck omfg!

Yeah I definitely read a lot on the subject before I bought the 1600+, and if I could do it over I would have gone straight to the Huky. At the time I couldn't justify the investment to myself in something I wasn't sure I would ultimately enjoy - a love of coffee doesn't necessarily translate into a love of actually roasting the stuff, after all. Turns out I do love it, and the 1600+ still has a lot of life left in it (probably did no more than 75 roasts), so I can probably get a lot of my money back selling it.
