First data roast with variac

(1/1)

folkery:
Any thoughts on my roast?

Is there a way to improve my RoR? I'm using 301

In the cup it tastes a tad over roasted and less sweet than my previous roasts with this bean.

Also the timing is off by maybe 1 minute due to not starting Artisan right away.

hankua:
It's a short roast, some of the details are left out such as: bean type, charge weight, profile settings, and how did you use the variac?

How did the previous roast's profile compare?

One thing that might help is shortening up the RD phase to 2:00 or even shorter; however one general problem with ultra short roasts is underdeveloped notes.

OK... newbie question. What's the RD Phase? I didn't see it in the Roasting Terminology page

It's the yellow banded area.  Something around 20% would be a good target.  The charge temp is high and the overall roast time is fast.  As Hank said, more data is needed to really evaluate the roast.  Also, during the RD phase you can right click the data at the top of the screen and cycle to the %.
