Switching MET

(1/1)

Jack:
I didn't get a BT digital so just wondering if I can switch my analog BT with the MET digital that I did get? The extra probes all look to be the same ie length. Also not sure what the MET readings actually help you with. Thanks, Jack

edtbjon:
Well, I'm pretty sure you mean "ET" (instead of BT). The BT probe to the left (if you stand in front of the roaster) is always a ThermoCouple (i.e. digital). Anyhow, the TC's are all the same and interchangable. The crux of the buscuit is that you'd need an adapter to fit a TC into the ET hole.
The best thing to do is to order a digital ET (with adapter) from Mr Li. That will give you the benefit of having a spare TC at hand (i.e. the MET probe as you don't see the need for it). Or order an extra TC with that order. (The only things that have broken down for me on the Huky are a couple of TC's, else my Huky is all original parts...) These items usually ships at normal international letter costs and as they are on-the-shelf items you will have them within a week.

Jack:
Ya my bad, meant ET. Thanks. So my unasked question was what do you guys use the MET info for, just an alarm?

SusanJoM:
MET will look entirely different depending on whether you are using a solid or a perforated drum.

It's 'use' as far as I am concerned is simply to give me a picture of the heat situation under the bonnet.

For that matter I don't 'use' ET either, but I wouldn't feel as comfortable without seeing all three lines and how they interrelate throughout the roast.

It's just more data....
