Confirm order
« on: March 12, 2015, 08:26:02 AM »
Greetings from Haliburton, Canada.

We are ordering a roaster for our coffee shop here. Current *draft* order:

Huky500 perforated drum 48rpm-------------1078 USD
Center 304 thermometer---------------------------112 USD
USB cable-----------------------------------------------24 USD
Propane stove------------------------------------------96 USD
Extra probe Met----------------------------------------16 USD
BT & ET probe come with Huky--------------------0
exhaust hood-------------------------------------------49 USD
extra tray-------------------------------------------------15 USD
extra fan--------------------------------------------------48 USD
Shipping------------------------------------------------186 USD

Total------------------------------------------------------1624 USD

Comments please. Am I missing something obvious? Are extra tray and fans necessary? Is that the best thermometer?
Links to relevant conversations welcome.

Anyone own a Huky who lives in Ontario, Canada?

Thanks

Oliver

That looks good to me.

Mr. Li is very helpful, so when you send your order you should ask him also if there seems to be anything you have forgotten.

Since he is in the process of changing the configuration of the HUKY, you might want to have a conversation with him about whether you want the original configuration (with the J pipe), or the newer configuration with the dual exhaust/inputs.

It feels as if both possibilities exist right now, and only Mr. Li can tell you for sure what he can ship you and when.

I ordered a second HUKY and Mr. Li recommended that I wait a few weeks until the new configuration was "ready".  Since I already have a working HUKY I was not in a hurry and I will end up with both, but for you you might want to establish that information before making it official.

I would skip the Center 304 and USB cable and get a Phidget 1048 with the 3810 acrylic enclosure instead.
Also I would have Mr. Li switch the ET probe to a digital one so you can log everything via artisan.
Since you are getting it for a coffee shop you might look into a solid drum and extra motor with housing so you have the opportunity to experiment with that.

As Susan mentioned you also might want to enquire about the new pipe design although you may have to wait for that and I don't know if you want to wait.

Other than that your order looks sound.  I'd pick up a variac off amazon as well but that's not from Mr. Li.

Order looks fine, you can roast with or without artisan using the 304. Make sure you get the digital ET probe installed instead of the analogue dial thermometer.

A third tray might come in handy, they're only $15.

Drum choice is, a matter of choice :o that being said, if a number of different people are roasting on the Huky the solid/72rpm setup might be better. Is this for sample roasting or small batch samples?

What Hank said.  There are a lot more people using the solid drum and faster motor, so you would have more role models if you go that route ....

Thanks folks:

1. Add Variac
http://www.circuitspecialists.com/variac-variable-ac-ps05kva.html is one suggestion...others? Other sources?

2. Digital ET Probe, roger that.

3. Phidget:

http://www.phidgets.com/products.php?product_id=3810
Correct items to order?

4. We will roast with solid drum to start.

Ontario, Canada Huky owners?

I am also curious if there is an assembly manual in the box?

No manual included, and it's not needed. If you have any questions just holler!
