Just finished roasting a blend using a Nicaragua from Curtis as the base along with equal amounts of Ethiopia Hambela and Burundi Heza Hill. I'm hoping for strawberries and chocolate with a little orange cream mixed in.

GREG!!! I AM DROOLING!!!! DARK CHOCOLATE AND STRAWBERRIES!!! HOW DID IT TASTE!?!?!?!? PLEASE PLEASE!!!! I AM DYING!!!!!!!!!

lol- I haven't tasted it yet but the vendors and personal experience gave me those flavors. I know firsthand the Nicaragua is big rich dark chocolate and the Hambela is crazy fruity strawberry. The Burundi description says oranges and cream- can't go wrong with that! Gonna wait a couple more days before I try it.

Story of my life. His descriptions kill me sometimes. They give us other home roasters something to aim for.  ;D

I'm very creative  ;D
The oranges and cream I can't take credit for, not yet anyways- Bodhi is on the hook for that.

The Burundi is an unknown at this point. I tried a shot this morning after just 2 days rest and it was not ready for prime time. That Hambela is a known entity and pretty much guaranteed excellent. I suggest a lighter roast for it- probably 2:30 development time or just a tiny bit more because going any darker you lose some of what makes it special.
Here they are:

Wow- I see on their site it says cherry not orange. On the bag I got is says orange.

Time for the cupping notes on that blend. Along with the blend I did an SO roast of the Burundi. The blend is excellent- the Burundi by itself not so much. In fact, not at all and I assume that's due in large part to how bright it is. The notes said it was bright but also that it had good body so I figured it would make a good shot, bad call. I guess it's one of those beans that isn't meant to be consumed as espresso.
The blend on the other hand- it's got a lot of cocoa type chocolate that's sweet and rounded, kind of powdery mouthfeel. A very nice long aftertaste that's more milk chocolate than dark bittersweet. I pulled a couple shots on day 3 and it was all Hambela and brightness, with plenty of the strawberry but still needed rest. Day 6 (today) the Hambela has taken a back seat, jumper seat way in back. Now it's mainly cocoa with just a tiny bit of fruit sweetness and brandy from the Hambela. No orange or cherry from the Burundi so I guess they were both overpowered by the Nicaragua, though not at all in a bad way.
