Moving from an air popper to the Huky
« on: October 13, 2015, 01:53:40 PM »
Hello everyone,
I started roasting in the oven about 6-7 years ago and then moved to pop corn machines about 5 years ago. I have used a temperature probe to measure and register curves in Roastmaster for the popcorn machines. This helped me a lot to understand about roasting. I don't measure much anymore, since I can tell what's going on most of the time.

Soon I will be moving on to bigger and better things...

Huky 336, which I got used, is not all the way set up yet...and there is the matter of fuel...It is just the basic J configuration with only one of everything...It would be nice to have a second fan and cooling tray...It has analog ET, but digital BT...
It needs a little loving but the motor and fan seem to work fine...

I have ordered a phidgets 1048, so it should be here soon. I had hoped to order another digital Thermocouple to replace the analog ET, but I have been having trouble finding the right one here in Sweden...I might have found one:
"Omron Automation and Safety E52-CA6D" (see picture for specs)

(I couldn't figure out how to insert the picture, so it is an attachment...--newbie problem-- haha)

I am not sure if the threads or length is correct on this probe...

Most likely I will have to do a few test runs with only the current setup...I am not sure I can wait for the electronics to arrive...

Happy Roasting
Michel

Michel, since you want several items, you might do well to simply order them all from Mr. Li.  If you go to the Pre-Purchase FAQ's area of the Resources you will find the price list and Mr. Li's email address so you could at least ask him for the total for the items you want.

Glad to have you aboard.

Välkommen till klubben! (You all know what that means... :) )
Ordering all the "right" bits and pieces from Taiwan is what I'd recommend too. If you are planning to invest in a second fan, exhaust bowl (if you havn't got it already) etc. you'll have it in a week or so.
What is your whereabouts b.t.w?
Now, dare I roast even lighter?

I think it's possible to remove the bushing off the analogue thermometer and try to source a 4mm thermocouple.

Agree, it makes more sense to order the parts from Taiwan; including the brass adaptor the thermocouple fits in.
