A few assembly questions
« on: October 16, 2015, 07:02:44 PM »
Hi guys, I just started assembling my Huky 500 T and am a little overwhelmed with everything. I got most of it together but I still have a few questions.

My biggest question is how do I hook the thermocouples to my Phidget? I have absolutely no idea how to do this, I have my Phidget in the acrylic case, but the thermocouples look like they can't possibly connect to it.

I got a thing to hook up to the propane tank to control direct flame and semi direct flame but I cannot read the directions, I assume its simple enough but I would just like some clarification to make sure I don't do anything wrong.

Also, I got the IR stove, how do I light it and what does the blue knob that says "open and close" do?

Lastly, I have the syringe to lubricate the ceramic bearing and I understand this bearing needs to be replaced eventually. How do I do this and when do I do this? I read that its 4-6 months and to listen to the sound of the motor but I don't know what sound the motor should be making.

I know these are all probably really amateur questions but I just want to make sure I do everything right, I would really hate to potentially screwing this thing up.

There is a document in the download section which should answer your question about connecting the T/Cs to the Phidget.
https://www.hukyforum.com/index.php?action=downloads;cat=5

And there was a thread just recently about lighting the IR stove.
Here look at this page towards the bottom.

And that's all I've got for now :-))))

Thanks Susan, I think I am figuring out the phidgets on my own, I am removing the yellow adapter and unhooking the wires, then I should be able to just hook these to the phidget correct?

This is the only thread I've noticed about dealing with the bearing.

I'm sure you would have many roast behind you before you need to worry about it.  But I don't know how often to lubricate it either.

IMO, I dont think you have to pay too much attention to the bearings, except to maybe grease them every 30-50 roasts and clean/reassemble/grease them every 200 roasts or so. Even though they are quite small, they should last more or less "forever".
I will rebuild my Huky next week after a year of use and will probably do my first cleaning of the bearings then. (I've greased then a couple of times though...)
Now, dare I roast even lighter?

So I think I built everything out correctly. All thats left is connecting my T/C's to my phidget, which I quickly realized won't connect with the connectors that came attatched. So I removed those, and have the exposed wires; do I just attach these my phidget in the proper holes?

Is there a reason you don't want to download the file that will explain that to you?

SusanJoM

I am assembling my HukyT (SR# 811) today and the download was easy to follow.  In a few moments I will see how my Artisan software works!!  Thanks for the information.
