3" Aluminum Flex Pipe?
« on: March 05, 2016, 06:23:14 PM »
Anyone used this before for venting? I can only order for store pick up or delivery, but don't want to unless it fits well. I think I can make it work though.

I purchased similar ducting just without the crimped end.  To make it work I bought a silicon 45 degree elbow 2.5 to 3" reducer, made for automotive purposes.

The 2.5 end fits snug over the exhaust outlet on the HUKY, the 3" end however did not fit into or over the 3" ducting (same exact diameter).  Had to make a coupler out of some sheeting, not a big deal, but if I had to do it over I'd get a 45 degree 2.5" to 2.5" in silicon.  the 2.5 inch side fits nicely inside the 3" ducting.  Probably get away with a a few rivets to hold it together or some ducting tape.

In case you were wondering here is the link to the silicon reducer I bought. click here

this is the one Im contemplating swapping to, to make the 3" work better

I see your all set up. What did you end up using to attach the ducting to the exhaust bowl?

I used something like this
http://www.homedepot.com/p/1-89-in-x-50-yd-322-Multi-Purpose-HVAC-Foil-Tape-1207792/100030120

It's not the prettiest connection you ever saw, but the flexibility of the tape makes bridging the discrepant diameters easy enough.

I'm using an automotive 90* 2.5" elbow with a 3"-2.5" reducer. It was a little loose between the auto parts and used thin sheet metal to fill the gap. It could be welded permanently as well.
