Yemen Red Marqata
« on: March 18, 2016, 12:45:31 AM »
I finally felt like I have enough control over my Huky where I was willing to risk 375 grams of the Yemen Red Marqaha.  It is currently resting happily in the cabinet.

It's gonna be terrible- send it to me and I'll dispose of it properly  ;D
Great looking roast- expect chocolate and strawberries dipped in brandy. Ideally it should rest 5 days or even a little more.

How did this turn out? I think I'm going to order some myself.

Can't speak for rawman but this year's crop is outstanding. I think it's a little different from the last 2 years- still heavy heavy fruit but less dark chocolate and more cream. As espresso I'm talking about.

That looks like a winner.  Throw in a smidge say 33% into a shot with 66% Guatemalan.  That is how I like it best.

That looks perfect, I can't wait to hear how it tastes! Where did you get this from?

I love Yemeni coffee and was thinking about ordering some from Al Mokha (www.almokha.com). Has anyone tried their greens? They are about $20 a lb. Would love to know their quality before ordering since I'd want to order at least 2 lbs. to start.

Thanks for that link- I plan on buying some from them when my Mill City beans run out. If you're able to buy from Mill City here in the U.S. I highly recommend picking up some of theirs to compare- it's going to be different from what you'll get at Al Mokha, more fruit notes, less spice, and far fewer irregular beans because of the way it was processed. I'm not saying that makes the Al Mokha (and pretty much all other Yemens) less good, just that the Mill City lot is special- very special  :)

Thanks for the input, I always seem to forget about Mill City when looking for greens to buy even though I watch their videos on a weekly basis.

They are great people and their price for this Yemen is much lower than I've seen it anywhere else. The other times I saw it for sale it was closer to $30/lb.
