What is the difference between 301 for logging versus a phidget?
I've stumbled upon some threads in the forum that I can log with my center 301. I've attempted to log with my 301 but there were some errors. Could someone help me with this? I'll be able to provide pictures shortly.

Both work fine with the Huky and Artisan. The Center 301 is two channel, while the Phidget 1048 is 4 channel. (This is crucial if you want to show/log the MET. There are other Center meters which takes 4 probes too.)
I do have both, but after having problems with spiking issues I decided for the Phidget. (But the issues remained until I used another laptop computer. I suppose many of these issues have also been addressed in later versions of Artisan.)
The pros for the Center 30X meter is that you can use it for other duties too. The only real con is that it's battery dependent. Once you've got it set up it works as expected.
I find the Phidget to be very reliable. It simply works and havn't given me a single problem. The con is that it's tied to my computer and I cannot use it for anything unless I bring the computer with it (but I do have e.g my Center for that... :) )

Here is what I have. I noticed at first my ET and BT were reversed and I fixed it under the ROAST menu.
here are my screen shots...

First roast.
turns out the ET and BT werent switching when I selected them to under the Roast menu. I went experimental and switched my T1 and T2 around on my 301.
If someone could help me improve the way my ET, BT, Delta function that would be helpful as well as ways I can improve the interface?

Sorry, to be clear I only have a BT and MET

OK, that has been completed. Thanks for the help.
Once my variac arrives ill start roasting and sharing my graphs.
I'm curious what the benefit is of have a digital ET probe. Do you think I can achieve everything with just a BT and MT?

I guess that the analog ET meter is there mostly for "nostalgic" reasons. As you have a 2 channel meter (the Center 301) there's absolutely no reason for not having a digital ET.
But there's no hurry if you dont have it at the moment. Just see to that the roaster is properly pre-heated before you start roasting and then go ahead with focus on the BT (and the corresponding DeltaBT) in Artisan.
For the three probes, the BT is by far the most important. The ET is important, but not crucial. The MET was added as an "afterthought" a few years ago on request. It seems like everyone orders it, but noone really cares about its readings. ???
To get started, I guess that you will only focus on the BT (and DeltaBT) for say 50 roasts or so. Once you've learnt and feel confident with controling the roaster, Artisan and stuff, you may want to understand more about how the heated air (ET) records in comparison to the BT readings. (I've been roasting with the Huky for almost three years and find little practical use for the MET.)
The italic "MET" in the middle of my ranting was added as that was my intention from the beginning... :)

ET will tell you where your BT is going. As Hank explained very early on in our explorations of roasting with the HUKY. BT chases ET.
For roasting with a solid drum, ET might even be more useful than BT since it is a step ahead.
The original ET analog thermometer was obviously the first and only tool used by the designer of the HUKY. There was a time when no one used digital probes for roasting.....Heck....I even remember it :-))))

More successful roast.
Delta curves are spikey. From what ive heard theres not much I can do to fix this. Is that true?
From this log everything is off a little by a minute only because I started the logging after dropping.
Any thoughts?
