Title: Hello from New Hampshire!
Post by: Brewzologist on July 07, 2017, 10:41:32 AM
A long time Behmor user here (6+ years).  While I'm proud of the roasts I am able to get out of the Behmor, lately I've had the itch to upgrade and did a lot of research on HotTop, Quest, North, etc..

Then I ran onto this weird roaster called a "Huky" of all things...

Which led me to this forum...

Which led me yesterday to order a Huky, Phidget, Arduino, DC fans, etc..

Now I have to figure out how to tell my wife I'm going to drill a hole in the side of the house to vent the roaster...  :-\

The fun begins!

Welcome to the forum! :)
Your journey resembles mine, coming from a GeneCafe and looking for more control and possibly a bit more capacity. Roasting on a Huky may be a bit intimidating at first, as everything is manual. On the other hand, once you get a grasp of controlling the roaster, you can turn out really excellent roasts.
About smoke, the Huky doesn't produce more smoke than any other roaster, comparing smoke per pound of greens. But I wouldn't dream of using neither a Gene or a Huky without venting the exhausts outdoors.
