Title: Just Purchased, Hello from Claymont, DE!
Post by: MasterKraus on August 08, 2017, 06:36:20 AM
Hey Gang,

First of all, thank you so much to the wonderful people who created this forum and the scores of users that continue to contribute. It was extremely helpful and ultimately the deciding factor for why I ended up choosing the Huky 500 roaster.

I've just placed my order with Mr. Li. Wanted to post my experience here for reference as it was prompt and positive.

In my first email on Aug 3rd, I requested:

-- Huky 500 T, solid drum, with quick connect, all digital BT and ET probes.

-- IR Stove, Propane
-- Exhaust hood
-- Extra Digital Probe  (for MET)
-- Extra Tray
-- Extra Fan
-- Extra Funnel

Kuanho responded literally within 5 minutes with the pricing. His email also came with complete payment info and a collection of pictures and resources on the product.

500T 72rpm solid drum-------------1180 USD with quick connect.
Propane ir stove-------------------------99 USD
Exhaust hood-----------------------------49 USD
Extra probe for MET--------------------18 USD
Extra sieve/tray---------------------------16 USD
Extra fan-----------------------------------48 USD
Extra funnel-------------------------------14 USD
BT ET & MET all digital probe.
Shipping-----------------------------------196 USD

Total-----------------------------------------1620 USD

After waiting for my funds to transfer, I sent PayPal to him this morning. Looking forward to taking receipt and will post some pictures when I do!

I'm separately acquiring a Phidget, downloading Artisan, and hooking up via Propane. Since I am getting the exhaust bowl, I will also be looking to get some flexible ducting to direct smoke/chaff out of my house.

At the recommendation of a few other members, I've also picked up a fire blanket and fire extinguisher in case of emergency.

Thanks! See you guys on the other side.....

-Chris

My order was confirmed by Kuanho via email within 30 minutes of making payment. He estimated a 2-3 day shipping time. I assume this is on top of the 4-7 day processing time prior to shipment.

 ;D ;D ;D

Now to find something to pass the time ...

Hi and welcome.
Yes, turnaround have gone from weeks to days, which is good.
You seem to have done your homework (i.e. browsing the forum) as the order seems correct.

What Mr Li calls shipping time is usually the time until he's at his shipping office, including build time. From that point you can expect about another weeks waiting time until the postman rings your door bell. :) There will be some kind of tracking info available too.

The 2.5" exhaust hose is non standard here in the US, however available in Taiwan. Maybe Mr. Li can supply some with your order?

I got some of that from Mr. Li.  It was very expensive and making the 3" ducting work is so simple I can't recommend it.   Mine is still sitting around waiting (3 years now?) for the cheap dryer ducting to need replacing.   So far?  Not a sign that it is failing....And, I think my original purchase probably left enough to do it again anyway....

As far as I know (without being in the US) there are no dutys for coffee roasters in the US. (Nor in the EU, but we do have to pay some 15-20% VAT (sales tax).)
