My motor just died while roasting
« on: May 30, 2016, 04:27:27 PM »
Hi, my motor just died seconds before I was just about to drop. I have only roasted about 20 times. Has anyone had their motor die this early?

I am sure it happens with anything sometimes. I personally recommend contacting the vendor before going on the forums, if he takes great care of you and then it doesnt die again, just a natural state of life imo.

I had the motor jam a couple of times, but that was because of a broken bean between the front plate and the drum. (I was then also running the 24V motor running om 18.5V, trying to regulate the speed a bit and getting the noise down even more. The lower voltage made the motor not only slower, but also weaker, so I abandoned that experiment.) But just make sure that it's not something like a jammed bean.
Now, dare I roast even lighter?

I did email Kuanho (aka Mr. Li) before I went on the forum, but I just wanted to know if it had happened before. Anyways, the motor is working now. He just told me to check the adapter. After pushing really hard on the cord that goes into the adapter, it started up again. But it did stop again after that. Pushed again and on it went. I guess I have a somewhat defective adapter. I'll buy a new one soon.

Sorry to hear that and I hope you get a new motor asap with minimum hassle.
I've not heard of this happening before. My fast motor has been working trouble-free for two years now so I'm leaning towards "fluke".
