Exhaust Setup
« on: December 02, 2016, 02:52:08 PM »
I came up with an efficient exhaust pipe setup.  First roast, no residual smoke!

So, here's what I used:

From Wall to Exhaust Bowl:
- drilled 4" hole out from garage wall to outside. outfitted on other side of wall is 4" louver.  During the roast, I take off the louvers to ensure no resistance.  Later, I will put a short elbow for a chimney effect.  The hole through the wall has an aluminum pipe, so there is not contact with anything plastic.
- from wall, 4" to 3" adapter
- from 4 to 3" adapter, I connected an adjustable sectional 3" tube.  I believe it's called an adjustable 90 degree elbow.  This is very cool. Easy to adjust to many angles.  Cost $4 at Home Depot.
- to the sectional 3" tube, I connected the 3" to 2.5" car adapter to the exhaust bowl.

I had to trim off about 2" from the 3" to 2.5" adapter from the short side so the setup would sit flat on the table without hanging the setup over the edge of the table.

What's good about this setup is the very short run from the exhaust bowl to outside.  And, I use solid pipe the entire run, no flexible pipe which would cause resistance and drag.  Now, to even further increase the efficiency, some heat resistance tape around edges of pipe seams.

Great job!
The turbo exhaust adaptor turned out perfect.

Very cool.
Where did you get the 3" to 2.5" car adapter? I haven't seen one of those before.

Yes, that's where I got mine.  I didn't need the clamps.  You can buy it with or without.  Since it's flexible plastic, it's more than tight enough without clamps
