I'm on board with the Hambela.
I'd been considering adding some to my stash anyway.

OK
Sounds like people prefer the Ethiopian

I'm going to reserve #20 Hambela to start; that will cover 5 people.

I'm onboard with the Ethiopian. Please make sure I'm included, and let us know when/where you need payment.

OK

There's 17 bags (grain pro) in Jacksonville, so this GCBC distro may go several bags.

And I'm planning on broadcasting the judging live on periscope.  :)

I'd like to participate with the Huky.  If the Ethiopian falls through and there's something interesting at Bodhi, I would be happy to assist since Bodhi is about 3 miles from where I live.  I can pick up and mail out the coffee at cost.  Or, perhaps talk to Steve about a discounted coffee for our competition.  Although a bit more costly, the Level Up Ethiopia Shaye Ayra on sale for $4.75 a pound for the next few days would be a very good choice that Steve rates at a 92.

Bodhi has opened its coffee bar...I had an excellent latte there last week so if you are ever in the area, you may want to swing by and give them a try.

That would work, using Bodi Leaf. We would need Steve to reserve a set amount of beans/price for a month. They also ship flat rate padded, which is convenient for small quantities.

My only concern is the time frame members would have to purchase the green coffee. Maybe they could set a bag aside for us? What about Bodi Leaf judging the entries for the second competition?

Yes, perhaps Bodhi for the next competition. It sounds like you will have enough coffee (20 pounds) for the first 5 people who agreed to participate in the contest.  I'll participate in a future Huky competition and join the others who will be watching, studying and learning from this thread.  I'm going to grab some of both the Hambela and the Limu for my personal use.  :)   Both sound like very good coffees.

I am interested in participating in this or future competitions. I live in SE Alaska so shipping gets kinda screwy. But please keep me informed.

Not at all, the beans are over my friends house. That came in around $5 a pound, twice the price of the Honduran. There's only a few bags of the Honduran at Royal, much more of the Hambela.

One question I have is can we get by with 3lbs or is 4lbs better per member?

Personally, I think 3-4lbs is sufficient. I also think it would be nice to consider how much coffee would be required for the contest submission though.

I'll have to check with Bold Bean, but I can't imagine anything other than cupping. 100g ought to be plenty, don't you think?

I'm not sure if folks would prefer 4lbs or 3lbs. This whole think is a trial run for fun/learning. I got dinged on my last competition for underdevelopment; so it's a good thing to do; let some other people who cup coffee daily give us some opinions.

My job is going to be cameraman/note taker. I need to practice with periscope and the ipad.

Three pound would be enough as far as I am concerned.

Would it be too complicated (probably) to offer it both ways?

I don't mean to suggest you do anything that makes it harder;  I am in awe of your willingness to do this at all;  but if it doesn't make it harder, maybe it would make it easier (because you wouldn't have to decide) ????
