For diameters, please  check the "probe placement ..." thread , reply #37

If it's the same as the one for the ET position, it looks like it's an M8 ??

Thanks for the tip.    I had never perused the Gallery section here before.  I think I can easily shorten the probe in place now, or fashion my own.  I want to see if I think it makes a more accurate bean mass reading as a shorter probe.

I made some calibration runs with my probes . There are two points to note:
The deviations were less than 1 degree ( at  20 and 100° C ) . Only the 2 year old TC probe lost about 2-3 degrees.
Even the 70mm probe reads only at the tip. It lost about 3 degree if it was 1 cm or less in the water. This is  effective for smaller charges.

If you mentioned it, Idid not see it.  Do you find - for larger batches - the same BT for the longer probe compare to the shorter?  I would be interested in a position for most accurate bean mass value for typical charge of 35-400 gm.

For 500g it is exactly the same, as the bean mass distribution along the axis is even.
The deviation for medium smaller batches I cannot quantify yet.
The short probe gived only strange readings at empty drum. There seems to be some airflow between frontplate and drum then.
