Not thinking of buying another thermometer right now lol...  It could also just be an OS issue witht the drivers... which one are you using edtbjon? Mine is win 10.
I tried the Center 301 setup with (the very latest update of) Win 10.
As I said before, doing a thorough "deep" uninstall of Artisan and the drivers, so that you got a clean slate to reinstall on, gives you a good environment for success.

I formatted the whole pc (reinstall os and wipe all clean) and got the same results. As you choose serial port com3, does it say "silicon labs..."?

No, it just says "COM3" as in the screenshot(s) I put up yesterday in this thread. I guess the thing to sort out is if that "silicon labs..." is some other driver (for either the usb or the serial ports) on your laptop or if it comes from a driver (for the serial to USB cable in between the laptop and the Center meter) that you installed after the clean OS install. Also, did you install the driver from prolific.com.tw which I linked earlier?
Now, dare I roast even lighter?

Oh sorry, missed them. But yes O have installed the drivers from your link. The silicon labs were recommended by Mr. Li i read in a post a while back. However after removing those drivers completely I do too get the COM3 clean in the serial ports page. But when I press "ON" I get the classic "serial port cannot be opened"... If you type "enheter" or "units" depending on the language of your OS in your start menu and you go to COM ports, what does it say?

What I think was inhibiting the driver to work was AVG anti virus program which after disabling it, started to work  ;D ;D ;D

Yeah there were 2 changes that I made (one which was unintentional). I went away from the general rule to only change one thing at a time...  the u intented variable i changed was to actuallt put the stove on despite getting the error. After a while as temp inxreased I got the readings. Now this males me feel better lol
