HELP - ET Probe Issue
« on: March 17, 2017, 05:59:15 PM »
Hi All!

I just set up my Huky this week, and have had some fun playing with it. Great little roaster, reminds me of my days behind the commercial roaster.

I'm just having some issue with my ET probe. I am reading in Artisan, my BT and MET read find, but ET stay at an idle 80 degrees. I can't figure what the issue may be.

Any help is appreciated!!!

What meter are you using?
And what does your Device Assignment page look like?

I'm using the Phidget 1048

Here is my Device Assignment screen.

Okay, that looks fine.
How about a .png file of a profile.

(So we can see how MET looks.)

Artisan only reads 2 inputs standard; extra ones need to be added. It's a little tricky with the wires and extras; see set-up guides in the download section.  8)

Next thing I would do would be to verify that the ET thermocouple is correctly wired or plugged into the Phidget.  It looks to me as if Artisan is not getting any information from that Phidget position.

Check the wiring there.

Hm, all wiring is properly connected. I am not entirely sure what the issue may be.

I did a test, taking the probe completely out of the Huky and tracking the temperatures of the probe, both on a table and gripped in my hand. Funny enough, the temperature fluctuated.

Is there something I am potentially missing with actually putting the probe into the Huky itself?

Possibly.  Did you install the ET thermocouple yourself?
Have you taken it apart and done it again?
Have you tried attaching the ET thermocouple to another set of plugs on the Phidget to see if it reads?

Time to start doing things that will isolate where the problem is.

It could just be a bad thermocouple. As you already said the wires are hooked up right, Are there any bends in the wire itself? Had that problem on one of my probes awhile ago where I bent it by accident and had to straighten it out completely for it to work right.
