Soldering Help Needed

Hello Susan, soldering is the clean version, with the right metall.
Bringing it down to the basics, the job of the srew is only to press the wire against the block to stay in contact.
This could be even done by a toothpick or a 5mm piece of a thicker wire in parallel, as long there is a protection against pulling out.
A quick try wouldn't cost a thing.

Way cool.....So if I were to jam a piece of soft (like the toothpick you mentioned) wood in and then tape that....
