The recent comment about ambient temp on another thread made me think about this a bit. I've noticed that some (most? all?) of my Artisan profiles have temperatures in the Ambient Temp box. That's interesting, since I've never even thought about it before.
Anyway, a quick search over at HB brought up this comment by Marko
Using a Phidgets 1048, its ambient temperature is automatically used to populate the ambient temperature value (the one under Ambient Conditions in the Roast Properties dialog) at the end of the roast. There you can use the popup to select a curve as input which is harvested via averaging also at the end of the roast to populate that value.Having read that more carefully, I think that means that your/my Phidget will give us ambient temp even if we are not doing anything with that fourth input for this purpose.

Well, if I'd done my homework before I posted, I wouldn't have had to have that question mark there. Here's what it says in the Phidget 1048 User Guide:
