Beans Slowing Motor / Rubbing against something
« on: August 10, 2016, 05:04:46 PM »
Hi

Just got my Huky the other day, seems to be great so far!

I am having an odd issue though. When I load the beans every few seconds it seems to slow, like the beans are catching on something and slowing the motor. Sometimes when this happens I notice the tryer move around too. Almost like they get wedged in between the tryer and the drum.

After reading through the forum I was thinking that it might be rubbing against the front plate. But then I remembered that it doesn't happen if there is nothing loaded in the drum. This only occurs as soon as I load the beans. Also, one time it actually staled the motor out, and I had to drop the batch early.

Anybody had this issue before? Besides the one staled batch I don't think it is affecting anything, but at the same time doesn't seem normal.

Thanks!

Bouncing tryer is normal, I think it's a bit too long, BT thermocouple is on the same side, and the stirring vanes are agressive.

Motor slowing down without grinding or scraping could be a break-in issue or some bean fragments getting caught between the drum and faceplate. Or the drum could be out of alignment. Stalling is unusual, I'd contact Mr. Li about the stalling and keep using it.

It this occurring with full charges  and 3/4 charges?

One thing you could do is to flip it over on a soft cushion, turn it on and have a look. Anything unusual happening?
