I echo your post Robert.
With perforated drum on the Gene Cafe seemed logical to go with perf on the Huky and forego the solid.
Haven't regretted it.  The only con would be folks like edtbjon who recently went from perf over to the solid drum.
He had some great advice on roasting with the perf.  Got my fingers crossed he will be back soon.

And Hankua what can you say?  It can be hard for me to extrapolate his comments sometimes and apply his solid drum roasts to my perforated.
He is real good about publishing his profiles but the solid gets so much hotter quicker compared to the perf that you have to guess temps and do some seat-of-the-pants thinking.  Looking forward to everyones experiences with the SM Majirani Espresso Blend Group that Hankua first proposed.
The Huky is so forgiving and so much fun.  After you get used to it it is hard to have a bad roast.

:) :) Even though the setups are different, there isn't that much to it. I find that the use of gas and fan is somewhat similar. For me it's about learning how to roast and the Huky is my tool for it. I started a thread recently on lowering the charge temp, which for me is a good way of getting better control of the roaster and getting more energy into the beans. The most important part of it is that the coffee does indeed taste better. :) My point about writing about this here is that I'd probably would have had similar success with this approach on the perforated setup. I'd even stick my neck out and would like to say that the charge temperatures that Mr. Li recommends are way too high. You can easily take some 100F or even more off those temps.
I do subscribe to the decision of RobertL to stick with one setup until really getting the hang of it. After that a transition to the other setup is quite easy, as all the basics of the Huky are already covered.
Now, dare I roast even lighter?

To those who have recently ordered how long did it take to receive your Huky?

For me - it was about 18 days from the time I sent my order/payment in, to when it showed up at my doorstep.

Thanks for the clarification edtbjon.  Had previously copied your advice on lowering the charge temp and now I agree after experimenting with it..  Coffee does seem to taste better.  Looking forward to your future posts.
Keep up the great work.

And for Robert, it was about two weeks from the date I paid Mr Li.  He had left for two weeks within days after I placed my order.  Had a few omissions but he cleared this up rapidly after getting back.
A real gentleman and such a pleasure to do business with.

You've done your research  ;D I'm still assembling that stuff after receiving the Huky and it's frustrating not having my full setup ready!

Yep, I posted it here a few days ago: https://www.hukyforum.com/index.php/topic,1150.msg12175.html#msg12175

He gave me the tracking # and the Taiwain postal service site link.
