Susan mentioned this forum and I registered last evening.

A little background - I started roasting with a FreshRoast 500 and felt it was mostly seat of the pants roasting.  Next I added TC's and Artisan and the roasting became much more repeatable.  The small roast quantities of the FR 500 made me look at something larger and ultimately I purchased a Huky because it was available locally in Portland, OR from Mr. Green Beans.

I have used the Huky for over two years now and have a friend nearby who has one as well.  There are several folks in the area who are interested in home roasting and use a variety of gas roasters, so we're blessed with many local resources.  I am sure I will enjoy this forum.   :)

Greg,  your comment (... 2 years- that makes you one of the earliest buyers) made me wonder if I misstated the length of time I owned and used the Huky.  As it turns out, I purchased the Huky in November of 2013 so I overstated the time I've used the Huky.  I guess I shouldn't try to compose posts between appointments at work.  :-[

I've been roasting commercially for 10 years now on a 1/4 bag Sivetz and now an IR-12 Dietrich. We are using the Huky 500T as our in-house sample roaster. It is all here, just what we need to track to do consistent, sample roasts. I also do "toll cupping" for other importers and farmers wanting me to import their crop/lot. This little guy does a great, consistent, repeatable job!

Thank you for joining the forum. It will be nice to have someone like you around with that much experience. I am still in my first month of Huky ownership.

I wish I knew they were for sale in Portland before I bought mine. I would have drove down and picked one up.
