the irony
« on: February 12, 2015, 11:13:45 PM »
What a great site!  I get the feeling that most of us here are also HBers (Home-Barista members--for those who are not).  I hit that site, on average, at least once per day, for over a year now since I first discovered it.  For the last several months, I've been on the lookout for anything "Huky" on HB.  I've gone back and read lots of the older posts...but it's been sort of dry on the Huky front of late at HB.

A few nights ago, bored, I did something I very rarely do:  visited coffeegeek.com   :o  I did a search on Huky and within reading just 2 or 3 posts, I learned about hukyforum.com.... :o....what the..?...  It's just puzzling to me why this site has not received much (if any) mention on HB.

Anyway, on the roasting front, I've only done four roasts using my oven and a perf'ed sheet pan--love it.  Nothing could be simpler:  oven to 475, insert pan of beans, listen for 2nd crack to start, pull 'em, cool 'em, done.  Of course, simplicity does have it's downsides....

But I'm content, for now, to hold off buying a Huky until after Mr. Li makes the "T" vent pipe available.  His original ETA was Jan-Feb 2015, but Susan has indicated elsewhere that he is no longer providing an ETA.  Bummer.  If it gets to be October and still nothing, I'll buy a unit and take it to a machine shop with some napkin drawings.

I'm so glad to have found hukyforum and look forward to learning and contributing as much as I can.  I'm located in Pasadena and would welcome the opportunity to meet Huky owners in the LA area.  Hopefully, I'll become an owner soon, too.

Best regards,
Tim Dixon

Welcome Tim- we're practically neighbors. I'm right over in Studio City so when you get your roaster we will have to do a roast-a-thon. I love giving comparisons to beginner's roasters... can't help myself. The oven method compares to a Huky like the Goodyear blimp compares to an F22 Raptor ;D
