External Display for Phidget 1048

Hi all

Thank you for the wealth of information here My phidget is here but my roaster will come next week. Excited!!

Is there an external display I could hook to the phidget 1048 to show the temperature reading just in case my computer hangs mid-roast?

The Phidget connects to the computer via USB cable.  I don't think an independent monitor will help with a computer failure.  Let's hope all goes well.  Congrats on your purchase.

There are a few of those, but you will need to use them instead of not in conjunction with the Phidget.

The Amprobe TMD-56 is used quite commonly between the HUKY and Artisan, and it gves you a read-out that would be available to you without the computer screen.  However, as mentioned above, it would be instead of not in addition to the Phidget.

I just picked up a Mastech ms6514 for less than $50 from ebay. Where the meter comes in handy is with the real time display vs the 3 second interval with a Phidget 1048.

The only issue with switching back and forth is the mini-k plugs needed for the meter. I ended up hard wiring the Phidget, and it can display three inputs. Honestly two thermocouple feeds is plenty for me, the third one rarely every gets any attention.
