IR Burner blue gas knob getting stuck
« on: April 10, 2017, 11:05:09 AM »
Has anybody else ran into this issue? It seems like this happens to me about once every three months (last weekend being the most recent) when the darn thing is stuck after I turn it all the way up. I usually have to let it cool, give it a nice twist with one hand while holding the whole burner in place with another, and grease it a little to loosen it up. Im not sure if this is heat related as well because Ive had some 3-4 hour roasting sessions with no problem. It just seems to get stuck out of nowhere, its working fine one batch and then the next batch it is completely stuck.

On a side note, out of desperation because I was roasting for the farmers market the following day, I tried out the Iwatani 12000 btu butane burner. It is just too much heat for the Huky and we can probably roast 700 grams (if the motor allows) to have better control of the burner.

I think it might have to do with your 'turning it all the way up'.  I vaguely remember an old conversation about how going past the end of the turn can be problematic.   See if you can stop short of the maximum and if that keeps it from shutting down.

There's another member who detailed breaking down the valve; which I think involved removing it from the roaster.
