Pre-purchase and going NG! Please review
« on: July 01, 2017, 01:09:09 PM »
I am brand new to this world of roasting, but super excited to get started.  I've done a ton of reading on this forum and home-barista and would love your input on the list of parts I'm going to order.

I'm planning on going the NG route and have talked with Mr. Li to get the correct stove fittings and orifices. I have already ordered the Variac and phidget 1048 with case.  Actually, I've already downloaded the drivers for it and have messed around in artisan... can't wait!

500T - BT, ET, MET all digital                    1180 USD
   48 rpm motor
   Perforated drum
Replace Analog ET to ET Digital probe
Extra probe for MET                                 18 USD   For the all digital BT, ET and MET config
   Backup BT                                              18 USD

IR stove                                                  99 USD   Starting with NG with a 3/8" FIP fitting
propane orifice just in case I swap            3 USD    Is this $3?

Exhaust Bowl                                              49 USD
Extra Sieve/Tray                                         16 USD
Extra Fan                                                   48 USD
Extra Funnel                                               14 USD
Extra Motor 48rpm                                      20 USD

Shipping                                                  196 USD

Total                                                     1661 USD

Do I need to get extra bearings? If so, how many do I need to replace them in the machine?  Would I need one or two?
Also, has anyone bought the 2.5 in exhaust tubing from Mr. Li?  If so, what was the price?

Thank you for your input!

~Michael

Welcome to the World of Huky.  Your list looks good to me.  I think ordering extra stuff is a matter of personal preference.  I've found Mr. Li ships extras very quickly so I only order if I actually need something.  There are two bearings in the Huky; front and back.  If you want an extra motor I'd suggest getting the motor set because from what I've heard it's a chore replacing just a motor.  Let us know when you actually order your Huky.

Can you explain why I may need an extra exhaust bowl?
