Now wouldn't that be nice, but as this picture shows, that's the vent for the cast iron stove.

That really is a nice set up you have there. Mine is right on the stovetop so I have to move it when I need more than one burner to cook with.

Hey! I'd rent that! How much a month!  :P I would alter that stove pipe to add huky exhaust in a heartbeat! :)

LOL.  I'm done landladying !!!

But I would welcome ideas for how to do what you suggested with the venting.  I really don't like the idea of sacrificing the walls and ceiling of that space to smoke damage. 

Here's what that very same space looked like in '07 when a tenant left a cigarette burning on the couch >:(

Well that's quite the upgrade! My experiance with a cyclone still had us using a small(er) fan blowing out a garage vent, there was wifts of smoke from random places. I'm sure it smells better than a Marlbro but would still smell like smoke.

I've just put our house in the south Tucson hills up for sale. That garage was perfect for a 10kg US Roaster that I never got :)
