« on: June 17, 2015, 07:30:25 AM »
Hi all!
I don't have Huky ... yet. I rost coffee for ... many years, burned few air poppers and using Behmor since 2009.
Hope this forum help me to make right decision with my next roaster.

Lots of choices now for the hobbyist.
Couple of things To consider are:
1. Ventilation
2. Minimum batch size with BT reading properly/controls work reasonably
3. Datalogging; is that something you might use?

What is your reason to look for a new roaster?

The main reason is that I don't think coffee I roast tastes good. It is better than anything I can buy locally, and everyone who tried said it is good, but I think it is not good enough. May be I just tired of Behmor..?

Those are both good reasons to look at something else. I was tired of my air popcorn popper, which is why I went looking for a new roaster.

You can definitely do more with the roasts, and thus flavors, in a Huky. It does require a commitment to details and measuring variables. The good news is a bunch of people on this website are already good at that and have kindly shared their results when adjusting many of those variables.

I am not at that point. I am roasting excellent coffee in my Huky, so I don't currently feel the need to monitor and record all the details of my roasts. I may someday though. However, the wealth of knowledge in this forum from more experienced roasters and Huky users has allowed me to more efficiently use my Huky.
