Cable Management
« on: July 11, 2015, 09:48:35 PM »
I just got my Huky and set it up over the past few days. I really really hate messy cables, so I did some minimal cable management with my thermocouples.

The tricky part for me was that since I hard-wired the thermocouple wires to my Phidget, the Phidget needs to be mobile enough so that I can freely move my Huky around. The other problem is that if I mount it to my Huky or the burner, the plastic will melp. My solution was to zip tie the wires to my power cable, and let the Phidget hang somewhat freely. Since it's so light, there isn't enough stress on the wires to worry me. It also keeps it out of sight, and not near anything that will cause it to melt.

Nicely done!

I find the mess of cables to poke at my OCD now and then.  ;D

Yes, very clever.  I now know how I'll set mine up.  Thanks for the photos.

This is still working out really well for me. None of the cable ties have melted, and it keeps things very organized.

Once I redo my garage (Hopefully in the next few months), I'll be building out a permanent dedicated roasting place. It won't be anything too fancy. Just a separate area way from my normal multi-use workbench area. It will also allow me to clean up the other cables from the fans and stuff :)

Thanks, Daave, I'd like to see a photo of that too if you get a chance.
