Building a "Huky Control Panel"
« on: October 09, 2015, 06:52:08 AM »
Hey Guys!

So I have had my huky about a month now and put about 15 batches through it. I kind of have an understanding of what I can do to make things a little more user friendly and I am set on making a "Huky Control Panel". So with this thread I'd like to also get some of y'alls opinion of some ideas I have.

To start with, I will be switching every "load" with a toggle switch which will be located on a stainless steel panel that I will be designing and building.

With that said, I intend on using all panel mount style devices. I have read a lot of your discussions on varian and how just relying on the damper gets clogged with chaff. I have this issue as well so I have found this panel mount varian.

http://www.gordosales.com/store/pc/18TBP-1-10-p538.htm?gclid=Cj0KEQjwy92wBRCl7trx4PaIo8EBEiQASPhtCy-zU0bX_P2dFjWDZHz0OZdILXQFiWxZQdFmbx1Kem8aAtdf8P8HAQ

I intend on installing this just after the toggle switch.

Do you guys see any potential issue with this variac?

I am not sure if it is good for fan: "...not rated for inductive loads including motors".

HEY GUYS, CHECK IT OUT!!! lol It's the Huky Control Board 1.0!!! Looking forward to 2.0!!! haha

K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Silly) well simple did not help my roasts... Time to add some technical advances to this project!!!

My goal is to be able to toggle:
  • Drum
  • Exhaust Fan
  • Bean Cooler Fan
  • Aux 1
  • Aux 2

In addition to:
  • Adding a variac for Exhaust fan speed.
  • Moving the gas controls to it.
  • Housing my Phidget

Stainless steen has been ran through the plasma table, drilled, and bent into shape! Toggle switches installed and it's wiring time!!!

It is a beauty. I expect to see it on display at the Huky Museum in about 50 years  ;D
