EU Huky.. Propane connections..
« on: March 15, 2016, 04:38:17 PM »
Hi Guys. Finally found time to open my package & fire up the roaster.... but, there seems to be zero connections provided for the IR burner? No tubes & no way to connect to the propane tank?

Anyone have this issue before?

Tony

Check with Mr. Li.
I'm guessing (seriously guessing) that the reason some parts are missing is because in Ireland you can't use them.

Someone previously had a similar situation.  I'll be darned if I can remember who or the exact detail, but I'm sure Mr. Li will either ship you what is missing or explain why it's missing.

The gas regulator which Mr. Li have access to (and ships) isn't of European standard, which is why he doesn't include them. The cheapest and quickest way of getting these items is to find a BBQ kit with a standard gas regulator and a few feet of hose for say 15 Euros. I guess Mr. Li asked about if you wanted a barbed or threaded gas connection. (I hope you answered "barbed", else you have to fix a threaded hose and a threaded gas regulator.) I don't know what max gas pressure the "standard" Irish gas regulator is rated at, but in Sweden it's 30 mBar, which is just about enough. (I got me a 50 mBar later, but I very seldom have any use of the extra umph. :) )
Now, dare I roast even lighter?

I reckon it's threaded. . Surprised there's no hose included. Also, on the back of the Huky, should there be a grate handle or is this only necessary for the perforated drum? I have no handle just an open hole.

Sorry for the amateur questions 😊

There's a bit of a learning curve with the Huky; that's where all the great members here come in handy helping out.

You should be able to find the needed bits in Cork. Propane is commonly used in e.g sailing boats for cooking etc, caravans and so on. What I'm getting at is that you need to see someone who can sell you the connectors or rather a regulator and a hose. (Start with the place where you bought your gas tank...) I could go on an on about how to check this and that. Nah, just bring the stove with you and go shopping. :) I take it you have already got a normal Irish standard gas tank, so you don't need to bring that.
Again, you shouldn't need much more than what's needed to hook up a normal barbeque grill. (Btw, I took a quick look and it seems like the "standard" low pressure propane gas regulator is rated at 37mBar in Ireland, which is perfectly adequate. That is just about the extra last 25% I felt I missed when I used a 30 mBar regulator.)
Now, dare I roast even lighter?

Hi Guys.. I'm both confused & frustrated. Mr. Li said he doesn't supply hose & connectors to EU.

I visited the main Gas suppliers & the same shop that supplied my tank & regulator. They had no connections that match. He actually advised cutting the connector & fixing a new connector... which I'm nervous of doing.

I have attached a pic.. is this the normal setup? Guy in the shop said the problem with the connector is that they have only a female option which won't be compatible

Very annoyed & frustrated because I have everything ready to go ....

Any help much appreciated.

Thank you edtbjon for your help..

I understood I needed an EU regulator but I wish Mr.Li specified that I would also need hose & connectors. .
Now.. I'm all set up & unable to roast..

Looking @ solutions to buying & connecting Hose from Huky to gas tank. I recieved no Hose/connections/regulator.
I purchased an EU regulator but finding it hard to get a connection from the IR burner to the regulator.

I have attached a pic of what connection I have on the bburner.

Any EU Huky heads able to advise..

Frustrated not being able to roast now..

I'm guessing you will screw off the part that is showing in your photograph and either the part you need is already under that or you will add one....

"guess" is the operative word....

Well bad guess.

I'm quite sure that that piece was replaced on mine, as you can see from this picture
