IT'S HERE.....but I need Artisan help. MT probe?
« on: February 02, 2015, 06:17:09 PM »
Hey everyone, my Huky showed up today!!! I got #568. Its such a nice machine! The build quality is VERY impressive. Anywho...I have a quick question about Artisan. I got the Center304 from Mr. Li, so I have the ability to log 4 probes, but I cant for the life of me figure out how to add the MT probe. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I feel so dumb that I have to ask!

Thanks gang!!! I'm so pumped to get roasting on this thing!

Are you talking about adding it to the HUKY or adding it to Artisan?

Marko addresses it on H-B here:

Process should be the same but select Center 304 instead.

To Artisan. I ordered my Huky with ET, BT, and MT.....but all I can get the Artisan software to show is ET and BT. I should be able to figure this out! Ha ha.

I probably shouldn't have jumped in, since I have a Phidget, not a Center, but here's how it works with the Phidget.

Config > Extra Devices

I looked through and can't see an obvious Center item that would work, but I'd try that one that says Center 309_34.

Ahh cool, I see it now. Thanks you two! I wish there was a way to make it look a little better though. Ha ha, thats the organization nerd in me coming out!

Hi, I'm using center 304 with 3 probes (BT/ET/MET)

I added the 3rd channel under devices but every time I ON artisan, I get a "Unable to open serial port" error. Artisan is reading the first 2 channel (BT/ET) but not the 3rd channel (MET)

Can anyone help me? Thank you.

Pic of error attached:

Could you please post screenshots of the first and second tab of the Device Assignment dialog? Could you try to use channel 12+4 instead of 12+3? I think I discovered a, potentially unrelated, but here.

Still the error points to a communication error, while as I understand, with a pure 2 channel configuration (no extra device) communication works fine. This would be strange.

HI Makomo,

Attached are the screenshot for the first and second tab of the device assignment dialog:

BTW, how do I set the "Channel" setting as per your advice?

Thank you.

Marko will probably weigh in, but in the meantime I think you have the same issue that tBoss99 had.
Here's what I told him earlier in this thread and which he reported worked for him:

Under Config>Extra Devices look for
Center 309_34.

Read through the earlier posts in this thread for more clarification.

Yep, this was pretty much my exact issue. I'll admit, I "kinda" got it working, but havent fine tuned yet. I've been learning the ropes of the Huky before I start doing much logging.

Simcw76, keep an eye on this thread, because very soon, once I start playing with logging, I'll report what I have to do to get it working. If however you get it working perfectly before me, please post!

Lastly, see in that last screenshot you posted, where it lets you pick the color for the MT probe.....I cant get mine to stay. I choose a color, close it, and it resets to black. Darn colors!

I finally got my third probe reading with help from Whale over at HB.

Basically, under extra device, i selected VOLTCRAFT K204_34 and artisan was able to read my third probe.

I am a happy man now.

Thanks Simcw76 and also our thanks to Whale.
The more answers we have here the more useful we will be to current and future HUKY owners.

I'm tearing my hair out trying to get my 3rd (MET) probe showing in Artisan 0.9.2 (Mac and PC).  I have a Center 304.  BT and ET are flawless.

I have tried the Voltcraft and Center 309 *_34 extra devices, in addition to a 304 and 309.

I get a "--" value in the Artisan 'LCD' textbox.

Of course, the 304 shows the correct value.  Before I start looking for logs, posting to Artisan forums etc... Anyone seen/solved this?
