Thanks Johnny. That video was really helpful. That is easier than mucking with removing the whole pipe.

When you charge, do you have ability to make sure all the beans get into the drum? I currently have to give it a few puffs of air to get the last of the beans to fall into the drum.

Thanks,
Dave

Ok, I really just found this forum, even though I may have registered some time ago.  I have the stock grey IR burner and a short exhaust tube causing (as you all know) not a lot of clearance to get both the exhaust and the bean cooler working nicely.

What exactly is the 500T  is that the different stove?  Does it come with the new longer tube?  Are they from Mr Li?

Hey, glad you finally got here :-)))
Look in the Gallery and you can see the pictures of the 500T.
https://www.hukyforum.com/index.php?action=gallery;cat=4

It uses the same stove as the original 500, but it allows you to add beans without removing the tube to do it.

Back to the Resources section > Pre-Purchase FAQs > Current Prices.

Mr. Li's email address is in that section too.

Hi everyone.  Had a major clog in the exhaust/fill pipe using the new 500T setup.   I started noticing chaff falling down below the drum(yikes!) smoke coming out of the drop door, and then noticed no smoke exiting my exhaust tube.  After the 454g charge came out very light(weight wise) I decided to take the t-pipe apart.  What I found was a significant clog of chaff and beans that had collected in the curved tube attached to the front faceplate, a major jam of beans and chaff around the damper, and still more near the T connection and the second damper.  The tube was completely blocked.  I only have about 10-12 roasts in since I upgraded to the new setup.  I typically try to slowly add the beans to the roaster especially when doing a full 454g charge, and I tip the roaster back to remove any stuck beans after each roast.

Anyone else having this issue with the T-pipe upgrade? - For those that haven't make sure you take it apart and clean it more frequently than on the original setup.  I will be doing it every 4-5 roasts from now on.

I owe you a great big thank you. There was a bunch of beans and chaff right where you said. I will stick the vacuum in there before each roast now.
Once again- thanks!

My pleasure - unfortunately it ruined 2 roasts - however glad I found it before anything more serious happened.  I will be sending an email to Mr Li describing the issue.

This is concerning. Anyone have any thoughts on a more permanent fix?

Doesn't vacuuming out the exhaust clear this up?

I'll start being much more thorough during and between roasts now. I usually take the cone off after I dump beans, but now I will open the damper more often and take a look down there to see if anything is piling up.

I know if I close that damper on the roaster side and crank up the fan, a small pile of beans would start to accumulate at the bend just off the drum, but opening that damper made them all slide back down into the drum.

I'll be interested to read what Mr. Li has to say. He has been more than accommodating and helpful to me over the time before my purchase and after. I am sure he'll have some good info for us.

Doesn't vacuuming out the exhaust clear this up?

The mass of chaff and beans was kind of sticky so I don't know if the vacuum will do it.  I really had to dig it out of there and then scrub everything with a toothbrush and a bottle brush to get all of the baked oils out.
